War’s Deliver the Word is a 1973 United Artists Records LP, catalog U-LA128-F; this copy’s record is VG+.
War built a sound that drew on Los Angeles soul, funk, Latin rhythms, and jazz, letting tightly locked grooves open into extended ensemble playing. On Deliver the Word, “Gypsy Man” stretches that approach into a long, shifting performance, while “Me and Baby Brother” brings a more immediate, hard-driving pulse. The album rewards listening beyond its singles, with percussion, harmonica, and horns carrying as much character as the vocals; this VG+ record makes a worthwhile addition for collectors exploring War’s early-’70s run.
