Teddy Pendergrass – Love Language (1984, 96-0317)

Teddy Pendergrass’s 1984 album Love Language, identifier 96-0317, with the record graded VG+.

With his rich baritone, Teddy Pendergrass had already helped define Philadelphia soul before Love Language marked a major return to recording after his 1982 accident. The album places that unmistakable voice in a polished mid-1980s R&B setting, including the Whitney Houston duet “Hold Me,” a significant meeting of two vocal eras. This 96-0317 record is graded VG+ and holds special interest in the story of Pendergrass’s comeback.
