By the early 1990s, Ice Cube had established himself as one of West Coast hip-hop’s defining voices, and these two tracks show the range that made him so influential: Check Yo Self turns hard-edged street reportage into a sharp, radio-ready statement, while It Was a Good Day builds an unusually relaxed, cinematic portrait of everyday life in South Central Los Angeles. Issued by Priority Records as a promo copy, this pairing captures Cube at a pivotal moment, balancing confrontation, humor, and an unmistakable early-’90s atmosphere. This EX copy presents both sides cleanly, making it a strong period piece for collectors of West Coast rap and Priority’s essential catalog.
