After departing Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny formed Fotheringay and recorded this sole album in 1970 — one of the most quietly beautiful and undervalued records to emerge from the British folk rock scene. Denny's voice is the centrepiece throughout, warm and authoritative in equal measure, and the band — including her then-partner Trevor Lucas — frames it with arrangements of real subtlety and depth. The album was a commercial disappointment on release and the band split shortly after, making original copies genuinely scarce.
